Real Madrid have failed to win any trophies this season, finishing as runners-up in La Liga, Copa del Rey and Supercopa de Espana, while also crashing out of the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old may have to postpone surgery on his shoulder, which has been plaguing him for months, until after the Club World Cup, as he may not recover in time to help his team in the United States if he undergoes surgery first.
